HAND SCULPTED LORD OF THE RINGS PROTOTYPE
Cave Troll vs Legolas the elf
Hand sculpted and hand painted by Dave Cortes for Toybiz, this truly one of a kind piece is a rotosculpt with incredible detail. This 8.5" tall piece is a representation of the fight scene from The Fellowship of the Ring that takes place at the Tomb of Balin.
The original idea was to have a series of different sculpts depicting pivotal scenes in the LOTR series, but the line was axed before it could come to fruition. So the only remnants of that idea that still exist are a few prototypes like this Cave Troll vs Legolas piece.
This piece is a combination of rotosculpt and handmade techniques. 3 of these were cast from a handmade original to be hand painted and hand finished and used for 3 different purposes in the production process. Obviously details like Legolas' bow & arrow had to be hand made. Sadly, this piece never made it into full-scale production and the protos are all that were made.
