Plastik Surgery Disasters: A "Toy" Show
Opens Saturday March 6th at Ghost Harbor Creative
Join us via LIVESTREAM for the opening night of Plastik Surgery Disasters! Asbury Park’s first all-toy art show! Presented by New Jersey artist Ian Beatty, this bootleg toy show features pieces from more than 20 custom toy artists from around the country. Pieces will be available for purchase following the LIVESTREAM at 6PM. The show will be up at Ghost Harbor Creative through April 1st.
Plastik Surgery Disasters was born out of respect for the artists mainly. The quarantine really shut down almost all forms of 'shows and cons' that a lot of our friends and fellow makers couldn't table at or show work at. Money/or at least in person sales that would usually be a sure bet, were lost during the year of 2020. I wanted to give some artists a chance to show what they've been cooking during lockdown and a possible shot at reclaiming some of those lost sales.
I've never curated a show before so this was a completely new endeavor for me. Was it tedious work? Yes. Was it nerve wracking? Absolutely, but I enjoyed every second of it.
The other end was helping caroline at Ghost Harbor Creative bring in some traffic. She has been so welcoming to us since the pandemic hit and I wanted to be able to create a show that would allow me to possibly put a donation in her hand at the end of the event.
This is only the beginning as I have had many other artists sending me messages about wanting to hop on the next edition. Hopefully by this time next year we can have a full gallery of people and artists celebrating together.

Ghost Harbor Creative, officially opened in September 2020, is an intimate gallery and performance space in downtown Asbury Park, New Jersey celebrating local visual, literary, and performing artists. As a nonprofit, our mission is to support, cultivate, and sustain the local creative community through art exhibitions, book and 'zine launches, poetry readings/workshops, music performances, and other unique programming.
